The Rotary Club of Ryde will be taking part in 2 separate 2-day tin shakes at supermarkets in the town this month.
On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th December they will be at the Co-Operative store on Anglesea Street before heading to Tesco Ryde the following weekend – Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December.
The community groups that the club are hoping to raise money for include Ryde Benevolent Trust, Aspire Ryde, Ryde Foyer, Foodbank IW, Jigsaw/Tidal Charity and Fellowship House Ryde.
There will also be food bag collections for distribution to needy families and local schools.
Community chairman, Ron Gould, has said:
“We wish to encourage local shoppers to support their own communities and to make Xmas a little happier for those who are experiencing real hardship this Winter. We hope to raise between £2500 and £3000 and to encourage shoppers to use their cashless debit cards.”
