A small section of the public highway has collapsed at Collingwood Road, which runs parallel to the Co-Operative store in the centre of the town. The road has sunk around 5-10 inches, leaving the road unusable.
Police have closed the road while the Isle of Wight Council assess the damage and arrange repairs.
