A lorry has careered into a shop front in Freshwater this morning (Monday) resulting in one of the main roads in the village being blocked. Emergency service crews were first called to Avenue Road at around 09:30 following reports that a lorry had crashed into the local pharmacy – Kemkay. Island Echo understands that the lorry was pulling out from a parked position when a technical issue struck leaving the driver helpless as the HGV crashed into the pharmacy-frontage. A total of 2 other cars have been damaged in the incident – a VW and a Citroen. No injuries have been sustained it is understood. Avenue Road is currently blocked, with traffic in the area very heavy. It is expected to be sometime until the HGV is recovered and the road reopened.
