RIB TAKING ON WATER TOWED TO SAFETY BY RYDE RESCUE

Ryde Inshore Rescue have towed a RIB reported to be taking on water into Portsmouth Harbour this evening (Sunday).

The volunteer lifeboat crew launched Ryde Rescue 1 at around 18:00 at the request of Solent Coastguard.

Reports had been received that a boat was taking on water close to Ryde Pier.

The casualty vessel was quickly located and a tow established.

Ryde Rescue has taken the RIB – with 4 persons on board – to the Chamber at Portsmouth and is now returning to station.

It is thought 2 faulty bungs were to blame.
