REVISED TIMETABLE FOR ROUTE 3 BUSES OWING TO ONGOING CLOSURE OF LEESON ROAD

Southern Vectis has released a temporary timetable for its Route 3 buses due to the ongoing closure of Leeson Road in Ventnor, suggesting that the road is likely to remain closed for the foreseeable future. A major landslide hit Bonchurch in early December, forcing Island Roads to close the main Shanklin to Ventnor road in both directions. Since then, Southern Vectis has been diverting its buses via Whiteley Bank and Wroxall, but following the ordinary published timetable. Now, the Island’s bus company has taken the decision to issue a formal adjustment to the timetable to reflect the journey timings on the diversionary route. Journeys between Ventnor and Ryde will operate up to 5 minutes later, and journeys between Shanklin and Newport via Ventnor will operate up to 5 minutes later. Buses are unable to serve between Shanklin Daish Hotel to Chimney Steps until further notice. Your nearest stops will be Trinity Church in Ventnor or Shanklin Community Centre in Shanklin. Many will deduce that this means Leeson Road is likely to remain closed for some time. Recently published traffic regulation orders suggest that the closure will remain in force until June 2024. A public meeting is to be held at the end of February to update Islanders on the latest developments in respect of the monitoring and investigation works at Leeson Road.
