The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown is to finally welcome Softi and Toph, 2 rescued tigers, next week.
The abused tigers, who were being kept in appalling conditions in tiny cages, were found on the Polish/Belarussian border, destined for a ‘zoo’ in Dagestan, Russia.
Unfortunately, another tiger had passed away as a result of the difficult conditions and was found in her cage.
It is suspected that the unfortunate tigers were to have their body parts harvested for use in traditional Chinese medicine.
Ahead of their arrival, a spokesperson from The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary has said:
“After unavoidable logistical delays, we are really pleased to announce that Softi and Toph will be arriving on Friday 28th April!
“Their hugely anticipated arrival follows months of preparation and planning, so we hope you are as excited as we are to finally welcome these 2 into their new forever home”

Odd how we can observe the often very different treatments of animals and cruelty of others when they are not in our country yet become blinkered to much wrong doing once here.
I hope these beautiful animals get at least kinder treatment whilst living in this cold, damp unsuitable climate.
Shame they could not be treated and released into their homelands and I am referring to the Tigers, but if the cap fits.
Go away Ivy.
You can’t turn every article into a racist rant.
Ivy can, believe me. Now even being racist against tigers!
These Tigers can now live out the rest of their lives here on the island knowing they will be fed and are safe. I have no words, well just a few, to describe people who are cruel to animals, Fu*king B*stards! China really need to amend their ways when it comes to killing animals for medicine. It serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
