The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is working to rescue a horse that has become stuck upside down in a ditch near Nettlestone this evening (Monday).
The 30-year-old animal is requiring assistance at stables off Pondwell Hill, between Nettlestone and Puckpool, according to fire control.
2 fire appliances, the Animal Rescue Unit and a Land Rover 4×4 are all on scene with crews from Ryde and Newport working to free the distressed animal.
The request for assistance was made shortly before 16:45.
UPDATE – The animal has been successfully freed from the ditch. However, a vet has been called to the scene to assess the animal.
