Island business owner Jonathan Kovacik has been remanded in custody this week following an attack on a 21-year-old woman in Shanklin, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The 21-year-old victim was taken to hospital on Sunday evening after being assaulted in Shanklin, resulting in the armed arrest of a male suspect after the young mum was threatened with a gun.
Kovacik, 57, was arrested by armed Police at Three Gates Road, Cowes at 19:45 the same evening on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and other offences, which were not disclosed at the time by Police but were revealed by Island Echo.
Jonathan Kovacik was taken into custody at Newport Police Station for questioning and on Tuesday was remanded in custody after being arrested for possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a knife in a public place.
He will appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court at the end of January.
The assault victim was released from hospital after receiving treatment for head injuries.
