Reform UK are the only party to field candidates in all 39 wards at the upcoming Isle of Wight Council local elections, according to the official Statement of Persons Nominated.
The figures highlight a clear gap in coverage between Reform UK and other political groups standing across the Isle of Wight, as the party looks to take control of the Council.
Conservatives come closest to full representation, standing in a total of 37 wards, missing just 2 divisions – Parkhurst & Hunnyhill, and Brading & St Helens.
The Green Party also demonstrate a strong Island-wide effort, with candidates in 26 wards, covering a broad mix of rural and urban areas.
Labour’s presence is more limited, with candidates standing in only 17 wards, largely focused on more populated parts of the Isle of Wight such as Ryde, Newport and Sandown.
The Liberal Democrats are contesting 13 wards, targeting specific divisions rather than running a full slate.
Independent candidates remain a key feature of local elections, appearing in 22 of the wards, often alongside party-political candidates and in some cases competing against each other.
Smaller groups are also represented. The Island Independent Network is standing in 5 wards, while the Vectis Party has candidates in 2 divisions.
No ward is uncontested, meaning voters across the Isle of Wight will have a choice at the ballot box in every division on Thursday 7th May.
Several wards will see particularly crowded contests, with Haylands and Swanmore, Ryde South East and Sandown North each featuring 6 candidates on the ballot – the highest across the Isle of Wight.
At the other end of the scale, Parkhurst and Hunnyhill is the least contested ward, with just 2 candidates standing in a straight contest between Reform UK and the Liberal Democrats.

No thankyou Nigel Farage. We see what you are.
Say no to hate, division and racism. Say yes to a nicer, coherent, respectful society.
Yes please Nigel Farage . We see what you are. Our last chance to reform Britain before it goes over the edge . Say no to legalising all drugs abolishing prisons mass illegal immigration 50mph speed limits etc etc
Tell that to the Muslims who are slowly taking over our society.Forcing halal meat, trying to ban dogs, intolerant of any other faith, subjugating women. Need I go on? Labour has forgotten what they were formed for, the workers (not shirkers), the Tories had their chance. The Green party, what a joke, they have no concept of finance. Reform can’t be any worse.
Well said
The Uniparty will not help the Isle of Wight economy grow. New investment is required. The current IOW council are very difficult to deal with. They hinder businesses & stop growth due to their outdated policies and management. ReformUK will investigate excessive spending & this includes the expenses that are claimed by the current ruling councillors. Vote ReformUK for a positive future & stop the uniparty over-spending and waste!
Desperado already!
Let’s hope people do their homework and research before putting
pen to paper.
We can all say what we will do, then do nothing!
Lol

Zieg Heil and get ready to start burning books and all methods of education!I can feel family members who fought in the past and now for democracy in this Country busting a gut to get out of their graves!!!bugger off “Deform”which of your candidates have fought for this Country?and being keyboard warriors does not count.
Don’t be fooled by Reform, they are the old Tory party
with a different name.
Have.. still going for reform..get this shower of shit out be very careful people of the green freak party..you think this turd government are bad.
Don’t be fooled by Reform!
Gullible, what put up with illegal migrants costing the taxpayer billions, losing our hotels to them, giving them new phones, free food, free NHS, free taxis to go into towns and cites and abuse, rape and run riot over British working people. Time to stop being “nice” and think about our own people for a change, not lefty woke idiots.
Time to stop reading the Daily Mail.
And where on The Island is all this carnage happening?come on if your that vocal hotel names ,towns numbers!!!for The Island!!!oh and several very lovely right-wing men with shaven heads tats came across to Albany born and bred in Manchester for rape you missed that report obviously not in Daily Fail or reading not a forte? assuming is?.
Do you even know what woke means? It means to be actually aware (instead of ignorant like you) about prejudice, injustice and discrimination. Calling people who are ‘woke’ idiots is basically going against your own rights. Did you know that reform want to scrap the Equality Act ? The same act that protects your rights in the workplace, because currently it’s seeming like you want to get rid of your right to be protected from ageism, sexism, any disability offences. But clearly, you don’t give one about any of that especially racism, considering that you’re willing to vote for reform whose manifesto is driven by hate. So, instead of calling people, who are actually aware of the mistreatment of many minority groups caused by people like you, ‘idiots’, maybe we should be focusing on how you are voting for many idiots in powers which are defected tories. Finally, if you want to eliminate your rights, endorse racism and blame other minorities for all of your mistakes (e.g. probably not having any relevant GCSEs or even A-Levels) then maybe you should be a far right, fascist idiot.
Reform won’t change anything, they talk the talk but
don’t walk the walk!
And what a shower they are. First one up is a titled, entitled, privileged Lady who is so far removed from the problems and needs of the common people I’m sure she’ll do fine in Bembridge and the NIMBY brigade. Keeping it exclusive, as it were. A Tory on discrimination steroids.
Most of the others appear to be relatively recent blow-ins, just like the bloke in Lake was. And we called Seely ‘Seldom Seen’!
A few have been in, um, other parties. Any other. It’s called hedging your bets. Nowt to do with principles or politics.
Can’t wait to see of the total shower how many have been done- or are about to be- for some offence, conflict of interests, dodgy dealings etc like Caroline Gladwin was.
There seems to be a running theme…grab someone no-one actually knows off the streets (anyone will do) stick a purple rosette on it (oh I’m sorry, wussy blue, or blue-lite, whichever you prefer) and remove them the minute a transgression comes to light. Either way, they’re in, no credentials necessary to join Reform.
As for Farage himself, he’s NEVER been seen in Clacton since he was elected, and done f-all for his constituents.
Farage is an hoax, my guess before the next G.E he will
jump ship and hand ove the reign to Jenrick.
Reform are the old Tory party under a different name
i imagine that’s because the people putting themselves up don’t have the self awareness to think maybe they don’t know anything about being a counsellor
Lets all vote the way we always do, I mean what could go wrong, cannot moan about the same old council policies if you voye for the same people who inflict the same old, it is time for a change on the island.
This is a once in a generation time to elect a proper council who will work for the people of the Island, it is a chance to rid county hall of the dross we currently suffer such as ward, love, bacon, jordan and the rest of the freeloaders with their noses deep in the trough of public money.
Under both tories and labour nationally our armed forces have been gutted, a top ex military advisor stated in an interview thar if invaded we could possibly hold out for five days, we are a sick joke on the world stage and our livings are being destroyed by crushing taxation both nationally and locally
Looking at the candidates, it’s a pretty desperate bunch of characters standing for Reform.
Alan Stay appears to post a few contentious if not outright inflammatory messages/memes or ‘banter’, if you will. I wonder how many of the customers who use his services fit the target demographic of his ‘jokes’?
But Emerson Maguire standing for Reform is a bit of a weird one. If it’s the same guy who is the HR manager at Vestas then I wonder how he squares Reform’s push against sustainable and renewable energies? Surely if Reform cut back or stop completely supporting renewable and alternative energy then future of Vestas and it’s workforce is in great peril. Especially considering the recent government support package to keep the business afloat.
Do people need to ask questions?
Oof, nice dive! Yes, people really do need to both ask questions and do some research. like the above Reg Dennis, who clearly isn’t even up to mainstream speed on Farage if his comment about ‘proper council’ and ‘freeloaders’ is anything to go by. Reform is still a limited company, with Farage as director. A non-profit now, ostensibly, but only after MAJOR investments and dividends taken, but with eyes on the prize of further contracts and money (or should that be referred to as MONE-y?) to be made if it can get to govern.
Let’s give Reform a try. Conservatives and Labour have proven to be useless at change
Let’s not.
