Across the UK, the nation has been celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, including the cross-Solent ferry company Red Funnel which hosted an onboard celebration with its passengers.
The afternoon’s festivities aboard Red Falcon featured passengers and staff members indulging in Jubilee themed sweet treats as they crossed the Solent between Southampton and East Cowes.
Members of the royal family have made many trips across to the Isle of Wight throughout history, with Queen Elizabeth II herself visiting Cowes on the final stop of her Diamond Jubilee tour in 2012, as well as in 1965, 1987 and 2004.
Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said:
“This year’s platinum Jubilee weekend is the perfect occasion to celebrate all things royal, and what better place to do so than on the Isle of Wight, a place steeped in royal history and the seaside setting for several royal visits. We wish all our guests a wonderful visit, and hope they enjoy all the celebrations on offer on the Isle of Wight over this special festive period.”
All very nice Red Funnel .. but it would have been even nicer if you had not excluded special offer ferry fares for certain dates this weekend ! A young relative paid £100 return gif his small car – not good for a uni student to fork out in order to spend a bit of time with his family.
