The Red Arrows and an RAF Typhoon fighter jet will display in the skies above Cowes next month for Aberdeen Asset Management’s Cowes Week, one of the longest running and largest events of its kind in the world.
Rumours have been circulating for the last couple of weeks that the world-famous Red Arrows aerial display team wouldn’t be appearing during Cowes Week, but that rumour can now be put to bed after confirmation that they will display on the Thursday of the week-long event.
Traditionally flying over the Isle of Wight ahead of the annual Friday fireworks display, the Red Arrows will this year put on a display to remember at 18:50 on Thursday 13th August, with an RAF Typhoon fighter jet display at 19:10 on Friday 14th with the fireworks taking to the skies at 21:30.
Attracting some 1,000 yachts and around 7,000 competitors including World Champions, Olympic medallists and a sprinkling of celebrities, there’s adrenalin-fuelled excitement out on the water and a lively party atmosphere ashore to entertain thousands of spectators. Would-be yachties can try their hand at sailing with UKSA with taster sessions available for just £5 per person or take a leisurely cruise to watch the racing from one of the many spectator boats.
For the best view in town and across the Solent, visitors can take a trip on the Giant Red Funnel Ferris Wheel at Northwood House, which returns for 2015 following its popularity last year.
As well as whisking crew and spectators to the heart of Cowes in just 23-25 minutes from Southampton, Red Funnel has the following exclusive offers and excursions in place for this year’s AAM Cowes Week.
