Dogs have been left in immense pain as a result of rat poison, slug pellets and broken glass being deliberately and maliciously left at an entrance to Parkhurst Forest.
Police have issued a warning after recently receiving reports of grain laced with poison being left on paths which lead into the forest at Marks Corner. Further reports have been received of broken glass also being left, both of which cause immense pain and suffering to animals.
The person or persons responsible could be charged with offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Protection of Animals Act 1911 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
It has been said on social media that dog walkers have been ‘intimidated’ in the area.
Those living or walking in the area, including those with CCTV on nearby houses, are being asked to provide Hampshire Constabulary with any information by calling 101. The RSPCA can also be contacted on 0300 1234 999.
Islanders should remain vigilant and report any further suspicious incidents to Hampshire Constabulary, quoting 44200441569.

Some vile people about. Let us hope some pet owner who wishes to give a sterner telling off that the courts ever will, finds them or traces where they live, first.
Whilst it is only right a proper to wait for the law to protect its people, children and animals, as we see, they don’t or can’t anymore, as courts cannot jail people as we have the third world residing in most to over capacity now.
With sick people like that, what worries me is, animals today,,what could they do to a
Person they don’t like
Make them eat the poison and make them stamp on the glass. The place is getting inundated with not just low life but their feral brats as well.
Let’s hope this vile person is found and is given the same treatment. Just let me get my hands on them!
Am i OK to place a trail cam up there or is that against the law?? This is bang out of order and they need to be caught asap.
The man with no name
Yes. Apparently loads of people know who is doing but won’t say. Someone who doesn’t like people parking near his house to walk their dogs. Not that many houses there so shouldn’t be too hard to identify.
do they not know how to make an anonymous report
If people know who this moron is then they need to inform the police. Yes, anonymously means you can report a crime and or a person but you don’t have to tell them your name. Please, if anyone knows 100% for sure who is committing this vile act they need to give a name to the police before any more harm is done
Not many houses as you say Mick. And as the old saying goes, ‘thems who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones’ but as those are wooden, best hope no arsonist dog owners are as evil and mental as they clearly are.
Have the Police checked their rubbish bins for evidence of poison packets, or other relevant packages or receipts etc?
Good idea if you can hide where they can’t find
I would guess putting a camera up is not an issue but whether the evidence will be accepted by the Police likely would be, and even IF it is allowed, the cretin will argue he was picking it up, or checking it to come and pick it up later etc etc.
I would print any photos and put up as a ‘warning’ to people to put dogs on a lead if he is spotted in the area, but secretly hope someone of less reason then sees such and speaks sternly with ‘it’ to dissuade any more poor animals suffering pain.
WE all know pain, and can get help, wild animals suffer in wet cold conditions, alone with NO help and die in deep misery. I hope this low life suffers the same pain, fear, worry and suffering, but it wont sadly ever come from the courts.
Absolute arseholes whoever’s has done that carma will come back to you wot gives ya the right to hurt an animal
Anyone sleeping rough up there may have seen something. Just plain evil.
Some people.
My dog ate the rat poison laced chicken meal on Saturday.. luckily for me I noticed him eating something and then found 3 piles of poisoned grain and meal along the path .. straight to very awesome vets and £138 later . I have reported it to the police. Not sure how many badgers foxes, birds etc will have also eaten it!
I cleared away two piles of poison after our dog ate a pile. Again we had to take the dog to the vets straight away to make him sick. He had a blood test which confirmed it was rat poison and is now on vitamin k1 for the next month bring his blood back to normal
I have written to the forestry commission to ask if they would put up cameras.. after all this is all taking place on their property. The more people who do the same may help persuade them to do something about him. People cannot name and shame without physical proof as I was advised when I called 101
So at least the weak law cuts both ways. IF a pet lover was to slash the culprits clothes, then without proof, they too would escape prosecution.
Why do innocent animals have to suffer because some screwed up halfwit has a grudge? And they don’t even have the decency to say why they’ve done it.
Whoever you are, grow up, sort your problem out without taking it out on animals you nasty piece of work. I hope you’re ashamed of yourself.
Absolutely disgusting !!!! Words fail me… to cause suffering to innocent animals, pets and our wildlife.
This person is seriously sick in the head. They need to stop this vile act now or hopefully the police or a member of the public will have some idea who you are.
Why are you voting me down you idiots, only Billy Bellfoot would know what I meant, what a bunch of cretins ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
The police know who this individual is and need to get on top of this and reassure the public of their safety of their pets and children in this area. Cruelty to animals is a precursor common in the makeup of many serial killers, this despicable individual is dangerous and needs to be locked up
