Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited Cowes on Saturday to review some 400 boats on the Solent as part of a special Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event.
Princess Anne enjoyed the glorious South Coast sunshine as a gathering of vessels motored past, including Dunkirk little ships, RNLI lifeboats and historic yachts.
The Solent’s sailing and yachting community came together to celebrate the Queen’s reign in recognition of the support the Royal Family has given to so many water-based events over the last 70 years.
HMS Severn – the Guard Ship of the Cowes Week Regatta – kept a watchful eye over the proceedings. Meanwhile, overhead, a Spitfire performed aerobatics.
Once ashore, Princess Anne – accompanied by her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence – was handed a painting of sails by artist Summer Jane, who had a stand on the Parade for Cowes Week.

anther waste of tine freebie trip All paid for by the islanders
Pity our so called royal family can’t show some support for normal hard working people. But then again that would be a miracle, and of course will never happen. Come on Truss carry out what you said you would do and abolish the monarchy. Just think all those palaces could be used to help some Ukranian people who genuinely need a place to stay and be safe.
Ha Ha Ha.
Most of them would be turned into ministerial residences.
We are talking about Tories, here, and the most self serving bunch of them this country has ever seen.
Good on her and I bet the day out didn’t cost her a penny
Aside from the Queen, herself, she’s probably the only one who isn’t a complete waste of space.
Oh I do hope she goes back and tells Daddy that we need a TUNNEL, instead of being prisoners on this Island !!
Who’s daddy?
Not sure the Royals despite their position can speak to the dead.
would have been nice if her boat had come along the green to wave at the crowd.
They wouldn’t do that, to many grassy knolls along there.
Stick your tunnel numpty you can always move
Still using up my oxygen!
There seems to be the usual ‘chip on their shoulders’ commentators on here again.
Yes there always will be sad people I’m afraid
