A power cut hit homes and businesses in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are aware of the fault and are working to locate the cause.
Supplies were lost at 14:50 and are expected to restored by 19:00 this evening.
Hookes Way, Hunnyhill, Worsley Road, Albany Road, Heytesbury Road and Grange Drive are among those affected.
A spokesperson for SSEN has said;
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply.
“We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
“Our engineers are on-site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

Here we go again more load shedding when is this company going to be fined and made to pay compensation to the customers who lose power. They are paying for a service they are not getting
Profits come before maintenance or service, essential services should never go to private companies, especially when sold to the French..
Power cuts will and do happen, but not as frequently as they used to. Distribution companies like SSEN do get fined per minute customers are off supply by Ofgem, so it is in their best interests to restore supply as quickly as possible, down to the minute.
The government set the level for a customer to receive compensation and that is typically 12 hours or multiple extended outages over a year.They also limit the profit distributors like SSEN can make, and this is based on their performance.
Whoever runs an electricity network (a private/public company or a government) will face outages, it’s in the nature of them that things go wrong, however much maintenance they do.
