UPDATED: Households and businesses in the Yaverland area of Sandown are without electricity this lunchtime (Tuesday) due to a power cut.
At just before midday supply was lost to around 20 postcode areas in Yaverland and parts of Bembridge, with other nearby areas such as Brading and Sandown experiencing a momentary dip.
The postcodes affected are primarily PO35 5 and PO36 8.
SSEN engineers are aware of the problem and are working to restore power as soon as possible.
UPDATE @ 14:10 – Just 6 postcode areas now remain without power, although spikes in supply are continuing to affect homes and businesses in the wider area.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks say that power should be restored to the PO36 8Q- postcodes by 16:00.
