Ryde Town Council has announced the return of the popular School Uniform Swap Shop, which will take place at the former NatWest building in Ryde this Friday and Saturday (8th and 9th August) between 10:00 and 14:00, and then every Friday throughout August.
Parents and carers are invited to bring along any school uniforms that no longer fit and swap them for larger sizes. The event will feature branded uniforms from all Ryde schools as well as a selection of general clothing items such as shorts and t-shirts.
Community Development Officer Alison Pearce has said:
“In many ways we are sorry to mention school right in the middle of the summer holidays but we know a lot of people are already looking to get their school clothes sorted for September!
“If you don’t have any uniform to swap please do come along as it is a brilliant way to recycle pre-worn uniform rather than sending it to landfill!”
Anyone wishing to donate uniforms ahead of the event is encouraged to drop items at Ryde Town Council offices on Lind Street. Alongside the uniform swap, collections are also being made for Ryde Carnival’s SOFT TOY appeal, allowing visitors to donate toys while browsing for school clothes.
A special thank you has been extended to Ryde Timebank members who will be volunteering to help run the event.
