A much-loved fish and chip shop in Cowes is to close this weekend, as its owner looks to step away from the business.
Chip Ahoy on Victoria Road in Cowes has been serving locals for over 30 years.
The popular takeaway will heat up the fryers for the last time this Saturday (3rd September).
In a statement on their Facebook page, the owners of Chip Ahoy – that took over in January 2021 – have said:
“Just want to say a big thank you to all the customers that have supported me through the years there has been some hard times and also good times.
“I can’t wait for a new start and be able to spend more time with my little family and to put my family first.
“We will be open until Saturday once all stock is gone and then we will be closing! Thank you all once again
It is unclear as to what will replace the takeaway at the premises.

The first of many Island business with what’s on the horizon and lack of support from this shambolic government.
What lack of support, explain yourself..
Eyes wide shut Paul if that statement needs explaining, you obviously don’t live in the real world like the rest of us.
He wants more time with his family, which part of that fo you not understand.
Sorry to see you go, but wish you luck in your next venture.
Very sad news ,especially with limited chip shop options in cowes- the other being about 4 pound for a kids size chips
Totally agree the other one in question is well over priced and we would never use it for that reason
Always wonder when I see comments like this. Are they expensive by choice or is that what they have to charge to stay open? Is the higher price the reason they are still able to stay open? If everyone stopped going because the prices are higher would this force prices up higher or would they have to close? Is the place not open because they didn’t charge enough? Maybe we should ask the next PM
So it’s not the cost of living crisis. I’ve had chips in Ventnor, but wherever you have them they’re the tastiest chips in the world. Best wishes to everyone who worked there, and happy spending more time with your family.
Why are you alway so happy and positive ?
Is it because you don’t live on the Island ? LOL.
Sorry to see you go always enjoyed your fish n chips won’t be going to Corries not at their prices good luck for the future
Sadly the Energy crisis has battered them.
