Police are conducting a search for what is believed to be a missing person in the Gurnard and Thorness areas this afternoon (Friday).
Several officers are searching and making enquiries on the ground, whilst the National Police Air Service helicopter circles overhead.
Island Echo is told that those at Thorness Bay beach have been approached by Police about seeing anyone acting out of the ordinary nearby.
The search commenced at around 14:30.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the search or issue any kind of appeal.
UPDATE – The search has been concluded, presumably successfully.
