Police are investigating a suspicious incident in Wootton after a man reportedly grabbed the handle of a 9-year-old child’s backpack, before fleeing in a van.
Officers received a report at 16:04 yesterday (Thursday) following an incident on Church Road at around 15:45.
It is reported that a man grabbed the handle of a backpack being worn by a 9-year-old child. The man then left the area in a blue van.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of what happened.
Door to door enquiries are taking place today as investigations continue.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44260202691.
Officers are also carrying out additional patrols in the area today. Anyone with concerns can speak to uniformed officers.
