POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION AS 33-YEAR-OLD DIES IN UNEXPLAINED CIRCUMSTANCES IN RYDE

A 33-year-old man’s death at an address in Ryde last night (Friday) is being treated as unexplained by Police. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Union Road by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service at just gone 22:00, as previously reported by Island Echo. Paramedics were tending to a patient and CPR was underway. The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled from Thruxton with doctors landing at Simeon Street Recreation Ground just 20 minutes later. Sadly, it has been confirmed by Police that despite the efforts of all involved, the 33-year-old, from Ryde, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the air ambulance’s arrival. His family has been informed. Police say the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Officers remain at the address in Union Road as they carrying out further enquiries to establish the circumstances of how the man died. A Police Search Advisor is present. A post-mortem is to be carried out in due course. It is the 4th unexplained death on the Isle of Wight in the past week-and-a-half, but Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said on Thursday that it was not linking the deaths in any way.
