A residential street on Pan Estate in Newport has been cordoned off by Police following an incident earlier this evening (Saturday).
Officers have sealed off either end of Ash Road whilst investigations take place.
A large number of Police vehicles, including the unmarked Armed Response car, arrived in the area shortly before 16:45.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responded to the scene and are thought to have taken at least 1 person to St Mary’s Hospital.
A bin is being used to cover over something in the road – possibly blood or other evidence.
It is unclear at this time how long the road is likely to remain closed for.
Hampshire Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
UPDATE @ 17:22 – The road has now re-opened to both pedestrians and vehicles.
