UPDATED: Police have cordoned off a section of the Esplanade in Ventnor this morning (Tuesday) following what is thought to be an assault.
Several Police vehicles rushed to the scene near the fishing haven at just before 09:30, alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Island Echo understands that a male has been seriously assaulted. He has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
UPDATE @ 11:10 – 3 men have been arrested following what has been confirmed by Police as an assault.
A 20-year-old fisherman has received injuries to his head after being hit by a glass bottle.
A 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old male and a 23-year-old male are all being questioned at Newport Police Station in relation to the incident.
Forensic investigators are now at the scene gathering evidence and photographs.
The bandstand area beside the harbour remains cordoned off.
