A car has overturned on Middle Road between Newport and Calbourne this morning (Bank Holiday Monday).
Police have closed the road in both directions as a result of the single vehicle incident, which occurred sometime before 08:15.
The Island’s roads are said to be icy this morning despite gritters being deployed overnight.
Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle has escaped any serious injury but is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for a check up.
The road is expected to re-open shortly once the car has been recovered.
UPDATE @ 10:00 – The road has now re-opened in both directions.
