A 21-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of drug and motoring offences after he was caught riding an electric motorcycle on a footpath yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Whilst on patrol, officers stopped a man on a footpath near Wellington Road just after 15:00.
The male was searched and a small quantity of cannabis was seized.
A 21-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and possession of drugs.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the male remains in custody.

They bring over mainland police to sit in the main roads and catch people for minor offences, but let these clowns ride around the back streets with no licenses insurance helmets, pulling wheelies and generally acting dangerously.

Good arrest. Still loads of private uninsured electric scooters being used. It is illegal except on private land. Riders also need at least a provisional driving licence too.
Many riders and parents of riders seem to think law on this does not apply ?

Living near the.main road in Binstead, it needs a speed camera. Soon as it’s dark, boy racers scream through here at all speeds. Crazy.
