Police and paramedics have been called to a road traffic collision in the West Wight this afternoon (Sunday).
Numerous vehicles from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were seen responding out of Newport just after 15:00.
Emergency service personnel have been called to A3054 near the corner heading onto Halletts Shute opposite Gasworks Lane.
The road has been temporarily blocked whilst those involved are checked over by medical professionals and the incident is cleared. Traffic is having to divert locally.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
UPDATE @ 17:30 – The incident has now been cleared.

Not all, but most that comment on this platform have no respect for life….The attitude of most drivers don’t give a dam if collisions skyrocket, I have no idea why that’s the case….The amount of irresponsible selfish, couldn’t give a dam idiots is worrying….
Why? Is it something in the water, or are we all simply mad…
Yes we are all mad, we are living in a sh1t world now
I can’t disagree with that at the moment….
Need to slow down on this bend.Do not accelerate until clear of the corner then accelerate to 70mph up the hill this is how an experienced driver like me takes this bend.Remember no more than 50mph at the bend 70mph on the straight. All you inexperienced muppets slow down before somebody gets seriously injured.
If you are doing 70mph here you are speading it is 60mph on main single-carriageway roads, and 70mph on dual carriageways
a islander that knows the speed limits must be the only one on this island
No speed limits for me I treat all speed indicator signs as MINIMUM because I feel the need for speed.
You are a Keyboard Warrior who license is still wet. Grow up moron.
Happened opposite Gasworks lane
This is exactly how I handle this corner but maybe get more than 70mph on halllets Shute.
Perhaps you are the ginger hair and bearded boy racer seen today in Newport driving a white focus size car with 2 young passengers, the rear seated girl around the age of 13 was not wearing a seat belt and was leaning forward gobbing off to rhe front passenger shouting “I’ve been sucking c**k””. The driver shot off the duel carriageway heading towards the industrial estate. I’m sure the parents are very proud of these morons.
They need to widen the roads, stop buses going down picksly hill. And put the speed down . And start building cycle tracks like Europe. Much safer. Its Really not safe anymore now the island is busier. One time it would of been OK rode my horses on the road road a bike everywhere. But it’s just to busy and we have to move with the times
Hayley you are full of sh1t.
Peter perfect keep your hair on
So what’s wrong with my comment ? They drive like idiots on this road it’s not in the least bit surprising there’s accidents. Where on those roads does it say its OK to drive at 70 . Bloody hopeless lot .
Hayley horses should be in a field or a kebab shop, why don’t you horse owners pick up your pets poo please don’t say because they don’t eat meat my wife don’t eat meat but if she pooed in the road she would get prosecuted
Pixely Hill was never made for buses single or double deckers, this accident wasn’t there tho it was down the road abit
It’s concerning to hear about another road traffic collision in the West Wight. We should prioritize safety and responsible driving to prevent such incidents. It’s important to respect life and be considerate on the roads. Maybe it’s time to reassess road infrastructure and implement measures like wider roads, lower speed limits, and dedicated cycle tracks to accommodate the increasing traffic.
What’s the betting Speeding is to blame.
Until ANPR is rolled out Islandwide speeding will not stop on
Island Roads.
It doesn’t need that it just needs common sense a lot of thick people out there and I mean stupidly thick
