2 friends from the Isle of Wight were featured on prime time television earlier this week when they appeared on BBC One’s Pointless – but did they walk away with the prize money or the coveted trophy? Elaine Keehn, from Ryde, and her friend Nigel Hall took on the challenge on Thursday’s episode. 58-year-old Nigel told host Alexandar Armstrong that he was retired and has lived on the Island for 3-and-a-half years having moved from Kingston-upon-Thames. Happily retired Elaine moved to the Island from South London some 27 years ago. The duo managed to power their way through to the head-to-head, then straight to the Pointless final. In the final, Elaine and Nigel had to provide answers to titles of episodes in the Jodie Whittaker era of Doctor Who, or names of cast members in the 2022 episode ‘The Power of the Doctor’. Elaine was hoping to spend her share of the £1,000 prize money on offer on a wet suit, whilst Nigel – a member of Ryde Bowls Club – intended to buy a new set of lawn bowls. Sadly, Elaine and Nigel failed to find the pointless answer – their lowest score was 3 with ‘John Bishop’. Although they didn’t clinch the £1,000, they did walk away with the coveted Pointless trophy.

Did you know the BBC has been convicting disabled people who are exempt from the TV licence? Giving them a criminal conviction. Google it, two weeks ago they convicted a down syndrome woman, who has no control over her finances. They use the ‘single justice procedure’. You write a letter, they read it, then decide if you’re guilty. All behind closed doors. And guess what, they have not been reading the letters. There was over 535,000 cases last year. This is tory Brittan, you’re guilty, end of it, forget a fair trial. Justice don’t exist in the UK. Yet they let perverts run free.
It’s a disgusting disgrace that anyone has to buy a license in these times.
Perhaps if we had more get up and go like the French then people would refuse to pay.
They can’t jail us all
I think I’ll not pay car tax, council tax,VAT ,duty tax etc oh and don’t want to pay income tax or National insurance. We don’t need hospitals, schools, police, armed forces, gas or electric or broadband etc. I’m good thanks and stuff everyone else. TV licence will be abolished in 2027.
The licence merely funds a woke mouthpiece used to brainwash the masses and as we see on here, with the dim ‘accepting’ the unacceptable in their midst, it is working very, very well indeed.
Why would disabled people be exempt? It’s only if over 75yrs. The person with power of attorney should of paid it on person’s behalf, they could well now have Power of attorney removed. Like why do disabled people get free parking?. Used to be because couldn’t walk far to pay at machine, but now done over phone or app. Many disabled people work or get PIP and other benefits and have more disposable income than many working families!. Glad to see 500,000 been convicted, need to start prison for those that haven’t paid fine. Agree could be lower and have advertising. UK £159 ,France – £120, Germany £185, Spain £137 in many countries it’s added to cost of utility bill eg Electric so everyone pays regardless.
Tell me apart from bankrupting the country one good thing that .labour did that changed the life of Mr. average.
whilst in power
They funded childcare.
What the f are you smoking?
We currently have the highest rates of tax since the 1950s, just had the worst inflation since the 1970s, the worst industrial unrest since the 1980s. Nobody can get a dentist, nobody can see a GP, NHS waiting times are the worst ever and the national debt is twice what it was under Labour.
Under Labour we had dentists, doctors, lower taxes, higher standards of living. Just about every aspect of life in Britain was better.
The Tories are like vampires sucking the life out of this country.
“Islanders” Both moved here from London, so not islanders then.
They live in the island so they are islanders.
Migrants, then. They can pee off back to where they came from.
