The Isle of Wight’s only Pizza Hut is set to remain open, with confirmation that it is 1 of 64 stores saved nationwide.
DC London Pie Limited, which ran the Pizza Hut franchise in the UK, appointed FTI Consulting as administrators yesterday (Monday), with Yum! Brands swooping in to save 64 restaurants across the country.
The news left the future of 70 Pizza Huts hanging in the balance, with fears of an impending closure for Newport’s restaurant.
However, it has now been confirmed that the Isle of Wight’s only Pizza Hut, located at the Cineworld complex on Coppins Bridge, will continue trading as normal.
Pizza Hut first opened in Newport on 4th August 2000 – 25 years ago.
A spokesperson previously said:
“We are pleased to secure the continuation of 64 sites to safeguard our guest experience and protect the associated jobs.
“Approximately 2,259 team members will transfer to the new Yum! equity business under UK TUPE legislation, including above-restaurant leaders and support teams.”
