The Phoenix Choir opened their 2023 season on Saturday 22nd April with a concert at The Trinity Theatre, Cowes, in aid of funds for the theatre’s desperately needed new roof.
The audience enjoyed a varied programme including many different genres. For the first time a soloist who accompanied himself on the ukulale was introduced; Alistair Drain performing “I’ll See You In My Dreams”. There were 5 other soloists, Ian Attrill with “I Recall a Gypsy Woman”, Elizabeth Habens with “Pie Jesu”, Jan Merwood with “There But For Fortune”, Gwen Stevens with “Gladiator” and Paul Stevens with “I Believe”.
The well-attended event raised a total £889 towards the roof appeal fund.
Phoenix Choir’s next concert will be on 27th May at St Helen’s Church, Seaview at 19:30.
