An elderly Isle of Wight man will face no further action in relation to the death of a woman in Wootton earlier this year as Police are no longer treating her death as murder.
It was on 9th September that Police descended on Glendale Close, off Station Road, following the suspicious death of a woman in her 70s, as first reported by Island Echo.
A 76-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody for questioning. He was later released on bail.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that its investigation into the death has concluded that there was no third party involvement.
A spokesperson has said:
“Following a number of enquiries, and on the basis of the evidence gathered by police, we are no longer investigating this as a suspicious death and the man has been released with no further action being taken against him.”
The matter is now with the Isle of Wight’s coroner, Caroline Sumeray.
