A 76-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of an elderly woman’s body inside a home in Wootton yesterday morning (Monday).
Police were called to a detached property on Glendale Close at 09:42, with officers arriving to discover the body of a woman in her 70s inside.
Detectives and forensic investigators spent the day examining the scene and collecting evidence, with officers keeping a guard at both the front and back of the potential murder scene, as first reported by Island Echo.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 76-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody at this time.

The force is said to be keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding the death and that enquiries are ongoing.
The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by Police.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Police have confirmed that their 76-year-old suspect has been released on bail, as enquiries continue.
