Police are keeping guard around a property on a quiet residential close in Wootton following a serious incident at the address earlier today (Monday).
Glendale Close, off Station Road, is normally a sleepy street but was instead a hive of activity this morning as emergency services descended on an address, where officers have remained throughout the day.
Forensic investigators have been seen coming and going from the property – a detached home – where investigations continue as night falls.
Officers are standing guard at both the front and rear doors.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is yet to comment on the matter, leaving a question mark over what exactly has happened.
Police – including detectives from Newport CID – remain present at Glendale Close this evening.
Further information is expected on Tuesday morning.
UPDATE TUESDAY – The body of a woman in her 70s has been found at Glendale Close, with a 76-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder, Police have confirmed.
