PEDESTRIAN INJURED BY CAR ON NEWPORT CROSSING

UPDATED: A pedestrian has been involved in a collision with a car on the pedestrian crossing outside St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this afternoon (Monday).

Emergency services are currently on the scene of the incident on Parkhurst Road. They were alerted to the collision involving a Hyundai i10 at around 15:35.

Traffic is reported to be heavy between Cowes and Newport, with all traffic heading Southbound being diverted via the hospital grounds. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

UPDATE @ 16:10 – Southbound lanes of Parkhurst Road have now reopened and traffic is flowing once again.

The pedestrian has been taken the short distance to St Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
