Emergency services have been called to an incident in Bembridge this afternoon (Tuesday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has dispatched a number of ambulances to the scene.
HM Coastguard has also mobilised Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, who are currently on scene assisting their ambulance service colleagues.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were also scrambled to attend, however, was stood down over the Solent before reaching the Island.
The exact circumstances are yet to be confirmed, although it is thought at least 1 person has got into difficulty in the water.
UPDATE: A spokesperson for HM Coastguard has confirmed their attendance:
“The Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was requested to assist IOW Ambulance following an incident at Bembridge Causeway at 12.30pm today.”
UPDATE – Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team have confirmed that a woman fell into the water at The Causeway, Bembridge Harbour.
The casualty was safely assisted to the shore prior to the arrival of Coastguards. She was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
