Wendy Parsons, a long-serving volunteer of Pan Together, attended His Majesty’s Coronation Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday (3rd May).
As well as being an invaluable volunteer, Wendy is the supervisor of the charity’s community cafe – which is open each Tuesday to Friday from 09:00-15:00 at Downside Community Centre.
Pan Together is the Isle of Wight charity which exists to support and provide a community hub for the residents of East Newport. In June 2022, as part of her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, it received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK and the organisational equivalent of an MBE.
Rachel Thomson, Pan Together’s Community Centre Manager, said:
“Once again, we’re over the moon to receive this royal recognition for the charity’s vital and direct work to support vulnerable local people when the cost of living crisis is biting so hard for so many. As a Pan resident, Wendy was a great representative for the charity and we’re so pleased that she had a lovely day”.
