Ryde & District Round Table, originally chartered in 1929, celebrated re-chartering, following a 3-year hiatus, with an energetic 1920’s Great Gatsby-themed Gala dinner & dance. With the support from headline sponsor Better Green Group and several local businesses, Ryde & District Round Table held the event at Ryde Castle in November. With over 80 people attending, the evening was fuelled by great food, rich entertainment, and questionable dancing. The main event was the charity auction, which along with other charity initiatives, helped raise £5,000 on the night. When combined with charity match-funding, the total amount donated to The Isle of Wight Youth Trust was £8,673. Jo Dare, CEO – Isle of Wight Youth Trust said:
“We rely on donations and grants to provide our services – which are in high demand. Last year alone, we provided almost 4,000 sessions to support children and young people struggling with their mental health – along with sessions for their families. “We couldn’t do this without the support of businesses and individuals and are incredibly grateful to the Ryde & District Round Table for organising their Autumn dinner to raise funds for us and to the generosity of those who attended. The money raised will have a direct impact on the Island’s children, young people and their families.”
Mike Palin, Ryde & District Round Table President said:
“Celebrating the significance of re-chartering Ryde & District Round Table with such an enjoyable evening, whilst raising such a tremendous amount of money for a local charity was fantastic. The amount raised from our first major charity event, really is testament to the exceptional efforts from those involved to plan and execute the night. Lastly, we couldn’t have achieved what we did without support from Better Green Group and all the local businesses – Thank you!”
Following the success of this year’s Dinner & Dance, Ryde & District Round Table now intend to make the Dinner & Dance an annual event, with each year offering a different theme and supporting more local charities.
