An off-duty Police officer, who is thought to have been travelling to work on his motorcycle when he was struck by a car, remains in hospital having sustained serious, potentially life-changing injuries.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the incident happened on Long Lane on 18th December.
It’s understood that flood water across the road brought the Police officer down to a halt or slow speed. It’s at this point he was hit by a vehicle – a Vauxhall Zafira – from behind.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and say that enquiries into the exact circumstances of the incident remain ongoing at this time.
Asked for an update on their officer’s condition, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says it is unable to comment on individuals.

I hope he gets back to good health soon.
Hope he gets better soon. Not a nice thing to happen.
OMG! I hope the Vauxhall driver is being prosecuted for driving without Due Care and Attention? Wishing the Police officer all the very best for a speedy recovery.
