Residents of Newport-based Vecta House Nursing Home ventured out on the minibus for a trip to the seaside last week.
On arrival, residents choose the perfect spot close to the seashore to enjoy a morning basking in the sunshine, with those present devouring a delicious ice cream whilst reminiscing of times they would spend with family on the beach.
Pete, one of Vecta House residents, joined Tanya the activities leader for a paddle in the sea smiling and laughing as the waves splashed against his feet, before everyone walked along the seashore to hunt for shells which were taken back to the home for residents to enjoy looking at.
A Vecta House spokesperson has said:
“Everyone had a glorious day enjoying their time at the beach, to feel the warm sand between their toes and smell the fresh sea air brought back fond memories for everyone.”
Well done all involved for making this a special day for these lovely people

These people are in a care home because they cannot manage at home, to go out is something we all take for granted, as you get old things aren’t as easy to do? No it’s not a prison it’s now their home so what a stupid comment! I hope you never have to go into a home.
Yes you are right about your last statement. I have worked in this sector.what you see is not what you get.wake lover of life. Do your homework.
So if you worked in a care home Then as a carer you should be happy for them. just think you my end up in a care home one day. 99% of care homes have loving carers who give 100% all day every day

You are clearly fishing for a response, so I will give you one. Your comments are both unkind and unwelcome. Most of the residents subject of this article have dementia including my wonderful mum who is pictured. The joy this outing provided is beyond measure as are all the other brilliant activities organised by Vecta House. Why you feel the need to make your particular comment is beyond me. So easy to be brave behind a keyboard, if you were a rral man you could come and say it again to my face, I’m available any time of your choosing, but of course you’re not, you are a coward and quite frankly a sorry, sad, pathetic individual.
