There will be no train service between Ryde and Shanklin for 5 days next month due to essential maintenance on Island Line, which will also see the closure of a busy main road. South Western Railway has confirmed that services will be suspended from Friday 8th to Tuesday 12th March inclusive, with trains resuming on Wednesday 13th March. No details have been given as to exactly what work is being carried out, or where. However, it is known that Avenue Road in Sandown will be closed from 18:00 on Friday 8th March until 06:00 on Monday 11th March, between Perowne Way and Tamar Close – under the railway bridge. This is to allow for track repair works. Motorists will have to divert via Perowne Way to Lake, or Yaverland to Sandown, in both directions across the weekend period. Rail replacement buses will be in operation between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin throughout, with a separate minibus operating up and down Ryde Pier. The buses will have to divert via Yaverland. Passengers are being warned that journey times will be extended and they will have to travel earlier than normal to maintain connections. A copy of the rail replacement timetable is below:

Tar mac the lot, save millions on expensive and dangerous electrified track maintenance. All the huge cost in fencing it sercurley.
Run battery shuttle buses which need less training to drive and are more flexible.

I will assume that you have no knowledge, as the land that the railway operates on is owned by network rail. It would cost millions to buy the land and convert it. Go back to your knitting and stop being a troll

If it’s down to the Avenue Road Bridge works Can I ask why Island line trains cannot run up to Brading and reverse there or at least run a rail shuttle train service for ferry passengers between the pier head and St John’s Road ???
