The driver of a Vauxhall van that crashed – coming to rest on its roof – in the West Wight overnight, has sustained no injuries Police have confirmed.
The incident occurred overnight (Friday into Saturday) on Afton Road in Freshwater and saw a red Vauxhall Combo van career off the carriageway, coming to rest nestled in a hedge, some distance from the road.
No emergency service personnel were called to the scene.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that the driver has contacted them and reported that no injuries have been sustained.
Island Echo understands the stricken vehicle is to remain in situ until recovery has been arranged by the owner.

Nice one HN. Seems a frequent occurrence for cars and vans to lose it there and I believe the last one also rolled. I walk along their regular and some drivers do like to step stupidly heavy on the pedal. It would be interesting to compare IOW leaving-the-road-and-rolling stats with a similarly populated and sized rural area on the mainland.

Trust me this can be easily done.Come off middle road and need to throttle down from a ton plus to about 70 mph on Alton road you need to concentrate 100% like I do or you can easily end up on your roof.Slow down you muppets before somebody get’s seriously injured.

Funny I recognise this van, iv seen him driving this same van wilst on the phone. Was only a matter of time before you smashed it up. Luckily nobody was hurt

Foxtrot Oscar u see you next Tuesdays my son had just finished a 14 hour shift and aquaplained. He sensibly phoned the police straight away and is luckily alive. He wasn’t drunk or on drugs so for all your negative comments let’s hope you are not in the same situation cos trust me I will trash you on social media like you have done for him a hole’s!!!
