A 47-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a fail to stop collision in Shanklin yesterday evening (Friday) saw 3 parked vehicles damaged.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Sandown Road – between Shanklin and Lake – at around 21:45 to reports of a road traffic collision.
The driver of the van – which will undoubtedly be written off – originally made off from the scene.
A local area search by officers led to the vehicle being located on Lake Industrial Estate.
It has now been confirmed that a 47-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and possessing a controlled drug of Class B.
He remains in custody at this time.
