Three Islanders have been named in the Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2015.
Yarmouth hotelier Mrs Dianne Thompson, the former Group Chief Executive of Camelot, is to be made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to the National Lottery and charitable services.
Back in March Mrs Thompson (pictured) took over The George Hotel in Yarmouth.
Meanwhile, Mr David Langford, the former Isle of Wight Royal British Legion president, has also been recognised and will be made an MBE for his services to the community. He previously held positions on the Red Cross Council and on the board for St Mary’s Hospital.
An OBE is to be awarded to Eve Richardson of St Lawrence for her work to end of life care. Ms Richardson moved to the Island 15 years ago after she retired from her work as the head of the National Council for Palliative Care.
