St Helens Sports and Carnival Society has chosen its ‘Royalty’ for the coming year.
At an event at St Helens Pavilion on Saturday 22nd April, the Judges selected 6 girls to be carnival queens on the St Helens float for the coming carnival season.
This will be the 124th Year of St Helens Carnival.
In addition to participating in most of the carnival processions on the Island between July to September, St Helens will also stage its own parade around the Village Green on August Bank Holiday Monday, following the annual Village Sports on the same day.
Elsie Clark was selected as Carnival Queen for the year. She will be attended by Bethany Hassett, Matilda Squibb, Leah McGechie, Belle Delannoy and Clara Hughes.
Jonathan Bacon, Chair of St Helens Sports and Carnival Society, has said:
“We were very pleased to have such a strong level of interest in the Carnival this year, which follows on from the success of St Helens and their Float in the parades around the Island last year. We look forward to another good season. As usual the theme for our Float will remain a secret until the first Carnival Parade, which takes place in Newport on Saturday 22nd July.”
