A brand new “first of its kind” Sports Performance Centre has launched on the Isle of Wight. The Sports Performance Centre will be a collaboration between 3 sporting businesses: the RMA Sports Injury Clinic, Vectis Academy and Ceyreste Performance. It will give Isle of Wight athletes a support package that will enable them to take their performance to the next level, including technology for physiological and biomechanical testing and analysis, most of which would only be found at elite sports clubs. The Sports Performance Centre is located within the RMA Sports Injury Clinic on Lugley Street in Newport, a thriving well-established clinic providing comprehensive injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services. Jake Brougham, Clinic Director, has said:
“Next year is going to be the 10th anniversary of the RMA Sports Injury Clinic, so the opening of the Sports Performance Centre is the perfect celebration. “We have a very talented team of practitioners at the clinic, and now having a sports performance facility on site too will be monumental for the Island. We have always ensured we provide our patients with the best possible care and now, with the new Sports Performance Centre, we can go above and beyond. “It’s not just about performing to the highest of your ability, it’s also the process of development, learning about your body, knowing how to train smart, maintaining good and optimal health, preventing injury and building that base that will be the key to achieve and succeed”.

“We started coaching with the simple desire to help athletes reach their potential, drive performance forward on the Island and help people live a happy, healthy life through sport. We now have this fantastic opportunity to build what we can offer to athletes to make their training more consistent, enjoyable and successful. “Our knowledge and experience, combined with top-of-the-range technology as used by the world’s leading sports scientists, can take the guesswork out giving you the accountability and information you need to develop as effectively as possible”

“It’s about Unlocking Potential. Once individuals identify their strengths and weaknesses, they can start to address their limitations. The possibilities for achievement across all skill levels and sports are truly remarkable. Most individuals are yet to fully realise how much potential they have. We all have room to be more. So the only question to ask yourself, How good could I be?”
Sports Nutrition Coach Joe Staunton has said:
“Our testing and analysis services are designed to understand you. Whether this is the way you move biomechanically, or how your unique physiology, metabolism and lifestyle choices are impacting your athletic training and general health. “We are all different. Having a holistic understanding of your individual parameters will enable you to tailor the approaches you make to your own training and health”.

“I’ve had amazing support from the RMA clinic since I was 14 and coming through the AFC Bournemouth academy. Now, with the Sports Performance Centre on site, I’m really excited to work with such a passionate team who will give me the opportunity to keep progressing my game and performance. “The facilities and equipment along with this level of support is equivalent to a pro set up. “It will be fantastic for Island sport.”
