New play and fitness equipment is being installed at Fort Victoria Country Park, the Isle of Wight Council has confirmed.
A trim trail with 5 activities and an outdoor fitness zone will be created at the popular West Wight country park.
The Council says the new equipment will provide dedicated spaces for both younger and older children, helping to offer inclusive play and fitness for all ages.
Wooden equipment has been chosen to fit with the theme of the country park.
The larger fitness zone will be positioned in the shade of the tree line at the western edge of the green, meaning open views of the sea and the green will remain unobstructed.
Contractors have set up facilities on the green while the work is completed, but these will be removed once the equipment has been installed.
The Council says the improvements will help attract a new audience of visitors to Fort Victoria and make it an even more enjoyable place for residents and visitors.

I’m sorry to be a moaning Minnie but the new play equipment and the installation of a fence in front of the seating area which spoils the open views will see a lot less people coming to the “park”. It has totally spoilt what was lovely unspoilt vista out to the sea.
The play equipment will be unused during the winter and it will be a target for vandals… mark my words.
Totally agree, thousands wasted on making it an eyesore!
I should imagine the firewood, sorry fence, will be put to good use
They should have placed it in another position
recipe for disaster.
