Isle of Wight High Sheriff Kay Marriott recently unveiled the Island’s newest defibrillator outside the Havenstreet Community Centre, following a successful fundraising campaign by Havenstreet & Ashey Parish Council.
Havenstreet and Ashey Parish Council have worked with local Isle of Wight Councillor Clare Mosdell on the provision and installation of these community resources, and plans are in place to commission a further defibrillator in 2023.
Mrs Marriott said:
“I’m really delighted to unveil this new and vital community facility, and as a health professional I know the difference that the network of defibrillators across the Island makes to people’s lives”.
Parish Vice-Chairman Karen Hull said:
“The Parish has funded this amenity as a priority within our limited resources, and hope to extend the network with another defibrillator in Ashey in 2023”.
Havenstreet Community Association Chairman Mrs Veronica Hattersley concluded:
“The Association are in our 50th year and, working with the Parish, we welcome being the home to this vital piece of equipment in Havenstreet and will help ensure residents know its location”.
