17 branches of NatWest along the South Coast – including the Newport branch here on the Island – came together to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer on 16th June.
The Newport branch along with branches from Bognor Regis, Brighton Castle Square, Broadwater, Chichester, Cosham, Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Hedge End, Hove Town Hall, Petersfield, Portsmouth Commercial Road, Rustington, Ryde, Shoreham-by-Sea and Worthing South Street.
The idea of holding the charity day was that of Karen Milburn, Senior Personal Banker from NatWest Bank in Gosport. Karen chose the charity as it is a charity close to her heart.
Karen said:
“I was amazed that we raised £2,147 with more money due including some match funding from the bank. I would like to thank all my supportive colleagues.
Liz Blunt, Senior Fundraising Engagement Manager – South Central, at Young Lives vs Cancer, said:
“It was great to meet the staff from the Newport Branch on their charity day. It costs our charity £38 a night for a family to stay in Jean’s House, so this huge amount could pay for 2 families to stay almost a month each there.”
