Strings Bar & Venue in Newport have taken Music Venue Trust’s ‘Outstanding contribution to Grassroots Music’ award.
After picking up the award the duo behind Strings – Claydon Connor and Andrew Booth – have announced a host of big names to appear at the venue in 2025, including Newton Faulkner, Toploader, Focus, Chicane, and Tom Meighan (ex Ksabian).
Claydon Connor has said:
“It’s nice to be recognised for your hard work and dedication.
“Myself and Andy are really passionate about bringing the best live acts to the island, supporting local musicians, and building something which is a really special and an important part of people’s lives here.”

Connor and Andrew are an absolute credit to the music / nightlife scene on the Isle of Wight.
Last nightclub on the Island closed last month – the late night industry is on the Island is on it’s knees over here.
Strings however continues to thrive – it’s fantastic to see big names in this venue, the regular club nights (Apocalypse – to name one) are a lot of fun too.
Hats off you to you guys.
