Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has supported a funding bid from a community interest company, the Isorropia Foundation, which, if successful, will help the organisation secure a permanent home for its services. The Isorropia team currently operates out of the Medina Valley Centre off Dodnor Lane in Newport delivering workshop-based programmes to help people with practical strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and cultivating a positive mindset. Now, in its 4th year, Isorropia Foundation is looking to purchase and refurbish the 3.5-acre Medina Valley site with support from the government’s Community Ownership Fund – a fund designed to support community groups to take ownership of assets and amenities at risk of being lost and run them for the benefit of the local community. Bob Seely has said:
“I was pleased to meet the Isorropia team at the Medina Valley site and hear more about the work they are doing to support Islanders with practical solutions to help bring about positive change in their lives. “I was only too happy to support the team with their bid which will both enable them to continue their good work and preserve a valuable community asset for use by the community. “I have written to Levelling Up Minister, Jacob Young, in support of the bid and I have also invited him down to the Island to hear more about Isorropia’s pioneering work and future plans.”
Charlie Bell, CEO of Isorropia Foundation, has said:
“We have ambitious plans to save this wonderful riverside site to support as many Islanders as possible and make this a centre of excellence for mental health and wellbeing”.
I hadn’t realised Seely is quite short, even in thick-soled boots.
This organisation can hardly be called a “community group”. They appear to mainly provide mental health services through the Isle of Wight NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, and it is hard to see why they need a 3.5 acre site to provide some classes and therapy. This large site would be better utilised by the wider community rather than solely by a charitable foundation for people with mental health issues. Something smells wrong to me.

Well done to the Isorropia Foundation for supporting those in need with practical methods and a positive approach to nature.
It’s needed more than ever because of the disastrous 14-year destruction of the UK by the Conservatives, backed by our very own Bob.
You now pay the highest taxes in 70 years (don’t fall for the tax cuts narrative as it’s not true), highest rates of child poverty, the NHS, justice system and crumbling (literally) education in crisis and the emptying of the nation’s coffers into the pockets of their pals. Sewage, trade, cost of living crisis…
But yeah. Boats.
I am sure it is very positive that Mr Seely is supporting this bid but I am not sure it is newsworthy. After all, that’s part of his job, isn’t it?

I think the biggest cause of stress and mental illness has to be this damn governments failure to even comprehend what normal working people are going through right now, bob is so obviously trying to keep his seat in the next election, well don’t worry, it won’t matter how many photo ops he turns up for to welcome this and that and supporting the other, he is a loser from now on. We need a general election soon. I’m fed up of seeing smug seelys face now. Unfortunately I fear we will be seeing it alot more in the run up to any GE.
It’s funny that it’s an election year and our mp is everywhere making it look like he cares about the island when it all he wants is to be re-elected

I wonder if Bob, is hoping to use this organisation to help get disabled people back into work. I believe it is one of the Conservatives new strategies to encourage people with mental illnesses etc., to feel confident in society again and thus be able to rejoin the work force. Not a bad idea, in principal, but far better if Bob wasn’t involved, as he creates a feeling of total mistrust.
He is a supporter of the World economic Forum . That just about says it all. If you don’t know who they are, just Google it, read their website. Then you will get the picture. Or you could just pretend they don’t exist and carry on. Your choice.?
