Richard Quigley MP marked 6 months since the opening of his constituency office by welcoming a wide range of Island stakeholders for a special event last week (Friday 30th May).
The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on progress and share ideas on how to tackle key challenges facing Isle of Wight West, while laying out a vision for growth and collaboration over the coming years.
Among those in attendance were Council Leader Councillor Phil Jordan; Council Chairman Cllr Ian Dore; Jo Dare, CEO of the Island Youth Trust; and representatives from education, healthcare, industry, the voluntary sector, and police.
During the event, Richard outlined his priorities for the remainder of his term as MP for Isle of Wight West: reversing decline, rebalancing demographics, building local wealth in partnership, and addressing the Island’s structural challenges. He also used the occasion to issue a clear call to action to both employers and educators.
Addressing those present, Richard said:
“During the election campaign, I heard from employers struggling to recruit locally, while schools and colleges told me they struggled to find jobs for their students. Both of these things can’t be true at the same time – and it’s a problem we must solve together,
“This office is not just a place for casework – it’s a space where connections can be made and collaboration can happen.”
The event was not only a chance to celebrate the efforts of local stakeholders but also
allowed Richard’s team to meet many of the people and organisations they will be
working with throughout his term.
Speaking after the event, Richard said:
“It was a joy to welcome so many to my constituency office. While we’ve been here for 6 months now, it was vital to bring key individuals together – to meet my team and start meaningful conversations about how we move the Island forward.
“I am absolutely committed to the pledges I made during the election – but I can’t do it alone. That’s why it’s so important to me that local stakeholders feel welcome in this space, and confident that they have a real partner in this office as we work toward a better future for the Isle of Wight West.”
Richard’s constituency office is located in Mill Court Business Centre, in Newport. It was chosen for its central location, easy access to public transport and near-by parking. The building is also occupied by local SMEs, NHS, and health care providers. The office is currently open to constituents on Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 or by pre-booked appointment.
This is in addition to regular in-person surgery appointments and dedicated casework appointments. Constituents can also call the constituency office team on 01983 244980.

PersonallyI am only concerned about the Ferries and
Numpty’s speeding, parking on Double Yellow Lines
and on Pavements.
Enough is Enough, no one on the island in so called
authoritative positione seems to be able to make a cup
of tea, yet alone achieve anything else.
