A motorcyclist has been involved in a serious road traffic collision with a car and bus in Cowes this morning (Thursday).
The incident has occurred on the Somerton Roundabout next to the town’s Park and Ride.
Island Echo is told that the motorcycle is wedged underneath the front of the bus as a result of an initial collision with a car.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are responding to the scene, alongside Police.
Traffic is heavy in the area with the road expected to remain closed whilst emergency services deal with the incident. Southern Vectis is advising that their Route 1 buses will be diverting via Round House until further notice.
UPDATE @ 09:06 – The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been scrambled to the scene to provide advanced emergency care at the roadside.
The road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
UPDATE @ 09:47 – The air ambulance has lifted off from Cowes and is transferring the casualty to Southampton General Hospital- the region’s major trauma centre.
The incident has involved a white Seat Ibiza, a Southern Vectis double decker bus and a motorcycle of unknown make/model.

He’s ok he had and op on his foot on Thursday evening and Friday morning it looks like he’s staying in hospital over Christmas

No one asked how the women is in the car yes we all have accidents but there is more that one that has a bad time over it yes I fill sorry for the bike rider but same as I fill sorry for the lady who was collapses in the rd as well so speedy recovery to all

Hope everyone involved is OK! That roundabout is an accident waiting to happen, people literally need lines painted on the road to know where to go, it’s a two lane yet people cut it all the time!
So true! When accessing the park and ride from three gates road it’s insane the amount of people who drive straight through from the Cowes end of Newport road just assuming the driver is turning left only. They need more signage and lines to prevent this happening again. I really hope everyone involved in this horrible accident has a full and speedy recovery
